Step by step example of solving a level 5 (very hard) sudoku puzzle
| Step 8 |

Let’s look again at the upper middle sudoku grid (where ABC cross MNO). This is a very interesting step in our sudoku game. The solution for this cell necessitates different sudoku logic than we have seen so far. The solution will be found by the process of elimination. Remember that knowing where numbers can’t go is just as important as knowing where they can go. Let’s look at cell BN: we can’t put 4, 7, 6, 5, 1 & 9 in this cell because in accordance with sudoku rules, we can’t repeat the a number in a column. We can’t put 3 & 8 in the box because we have them already in cells AM and CM. By process of elimination, we have to put the number 2 in this cell. |
